James J. Hill House
The James J. Hill House is a 36,500 sf mansion completed in 1891 for the railroad titan James J. Hill, The mansion is located on Summit Ave is St Paul, and is a National Historic Landmark.
Advanced Masonry Restoration was hired as the design-build contractor to complete restoration of the back verandas and coal room. The primary goal of the project was to stop water infiltration at the barrel-vaulted brick floors of the coal room, and back verandas. The project scope included tile flooring/concrete topping demo, elevated concrete topping slabs, waterproofing, structural steel reinforcing, brick barrel vault tuckpointing and brick replacement, sealant replacement, painting, and asphalt paving. AMR self-performed the barrel-vaulted brick tuckpointing/brick replacement, sealant replacement, and tile demo.
