Historic Split Rock Lighthouse

Two Harbors, MN

The Split Rock Lighthouse Project done by Advanced Masonry Restoration

This lighthouse is one Minnesota Historical Society’s top tourist attractions. Repair work on these buildings started in the early spring resulting in a daily battle with weather conditions. AMR also made special accommodations so the site could remain open for daily visitors. The interior brick had to be custom made with 7 color matches attempted before the glazing was approved. While working above Lake Superior extra care was taken to ensure all debris was contained.

Project Scope

  • Cutting and pointing of the lighthouse, fog signal building and light keepers houses
  • Brick replacement on all buildings
  • Remove and replace glazed brick on the interior of the lighthouse
