Mechanical Engineering Building

University of Minnesota – Minneapolis, MN

One of our many U of M projects. The greatest challenge of this project was the repointing of the terra cotta rollover joint. The caps were very fragile and extra care had to be taken when pointing the mortar joints to not damage the caps. The project was also on a very tight timeline so sequencing of work was very crucial to get the project completed on time. There were multiple trades working on the exterior of the building so communication and coordination was crucial.

Project Scope

  • Tuck pointing of 2,175 square feet of exterior parapet wall
  • Sealant replacement at expansion joints
  • Stone replacement and through wall flashing at window head units
  • Installation of rope weeps at window heads
  • Exterior masonry cleaning of elevations
  • Replacement of 300 bricks
  • Repointing of rollover joints at parapet caps
